Mitchell R. Miller, Esq.

Mitchell Miller, Esq.

Mitchell Miller has been a tax lawyer for over 30 years. He is a California State Bar Certified Specialist in Taxation and a CPA in Pennsylvania. From his office in Beverly Hills, he practices in the areas of taxation, estate planning, business formation and transactions, and administrative law.

An often-quoted expert on the taxation of the entertainment industry and the independent contractor/employee issue, he chaired the LA County Bar Association Tax Section Entertainment Tax Committee, the Beverly Hills Bar Association Entertainment Tax Committee, has lectured twice at the annual IRS Assistant Commissioner (International) Conference on the Entertainment Industry, at the U.S.C. Tax Institute, and is a frequent speaker and author for many professional groups and publications. In 1994 he was asked to organize and teach the course in Taxation of the Film and Televison Industry at UCLA Extension and taught the course for eight years.

In addition to planning business transactions and structures, he advises attorneys and accountants on tax planning and reporting issues, international taxation, proper business structures, acquisitions, spinoffs, mergers, and establishing benefit, stock option, and deferred compensation plans. He is available to assist in preparing private placement memoranda and registration statements.

Mitchell has handled many dozens of federal and state tax audits and appeals as well as Tax Court cases, and can be of particular value in handling unusual or complex tax issues or in situations in which the revenue agent has become hostile to the client or the representative.

He has resolved difficult estate situations including failure to fund revocable trusts, family disputes, and IRS examinations. As a business lawyer he is known for rapid and incisive analysis and solutions to problems confronting his clients. In addition, he has prepared appellate briefs and appeared before the California Court of Appeal and the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and won victories in accounting malpractice and Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement cases.

Mitchell also serves Of Counsel to Spolin, Silverman, Cohen & Bartlett, LLP, and Wolf Group, L.A.

"Mitch Miller provided excellent coverage of subject matter in the Introduction to International Taxation class. He really hit a homerun."
